Welcome to the Official site for Julie Dash's DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST. The Newark Black Film Festival has chosen Daughters as the Film of The Century while the British Film Institute's Sight and Sound Magazine chose the soundtrack as one of the best in the past 25 years.
     We are in the process of re-designing the site to provide you with more info about Daughters and the work of Julie Dash. The site was initially established in 1995 and we are tooling up to provide you will a site worthy of the New Millenium. Keep watching for our new additions

DAUGHTERS DVD

Kino On-Video has released the DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST DVD.

The DVD includes a high resolution version of the award-winning film, (
Best Cinematography>, Sundance Film Festival, 1991); a behind the scenes "making of" section with seldom seen video footage; Julie Dash, explains the film scene by scene; and a special section will feature noted scholar, Robert Farris Thompson, of Yale University, speaking on the Afro-Atlantic cultural symbols that resonate throughout the film and the isolated musical score of the film, composed by John Barnes
