PBS Retreat for Minority
Women
at Sundance, 1990
PBS ROCKY MOUNTAIN RETREAT
May 4-6, 1990
Sundance Institute, Sundance, Utah
One hundred minority women
producers, directors, writers and film and television executives gathered
in Sundance, Utah, home of the Sundance Institute, during the
weekend of May 4-6, 1990, for PBS' third minority women in media conference.
The purpose was to provide women of color with greater access to the
broadcast and film industries and with greater visibility on the screen.
This was accomplished through workshops with leading producers, directors
and writers, through networking opportunities with industry executives
and through discussions around screenings of participants' work. Participants
were all accomplished filmmakers with national credits. The co-directors
of the conference were Gail Christian and Suzanne Singer.
